The next row from left is Carl Goodchild, the bottom row centre is Lenny Gardener My name is Ann; I was a pupil at Osler/Follett Osler Infant Junior then senior school, until 1959. I lived in Osler Street until 1966 when I married my husband Leonard who was also a pupil at Osler Senior Boys.
OSLER STREET SCHOOL ALWAYS ENCOURAGED PUPILS TO TAKE PART IN SPORT, I RECALL A SPECIAL BUS WOULD ONCE A WEEK TAKES US TO EITHER METCHELY LANE PLAYING FIELDS OR BERNARD ROAD PLAYING FIELDS IN SCHOOL TIME, IN THE LUNCH TIME THE PLAYGROUND WAS A HIVE OF ACTIVITY WITH GAMES OF FOOTBALL OR CRICKET BEING PLAYED, THOSE NOT TAKING PART WERE USUALLY SMOKING BY THE SCIENCE LAB. I am attaching a photo of my twin uncles who attended Osler Street School in the 30s and 40s. On the left is Geoff Cook who was head boy and the right is Ron Cook.
AMONG MY PROUDEST MEMORIES WERE BEING CHOSEN TO REPRESENT THE SCHOOL AT FOOTBALL AND CRICKET I RECALL MY FIRST GAME OF FOOTBALL WE PLAYED THE ORATORY AND I SCORED TWO GOALS TO WIN THE SCHOOL THE GAME, I ALSO WAS CHOSEN TO REPRESENT THE SCHOOL AT ATHLETICS FOR WHICH I WON THE FINAL OF THE WEST BIRMINGHAM SCHOOLS 220 YARDS FINAL. Apart from myself there was Margaret, Eileen, Gordon, and Kenneth.
I got to act in 3 plays one being at a special school in Sutton Coldfield, after our performance they laid out a nice tea for us in their posh dining room.
My name is Doug Ias Bedford, we had the shop down the road I was at the school around 1960, with Bernard Mulready, Billy Reid, Jimmy Shearer the teachers from Colin Mytton pic, was at my time Mr Parchment was my teacher at some time.
